Deputy PM Temesgen: Healthy, empowered society vital to Ethiopia’s prosperity vision
Bahir Dar, August 7, 2026 (FMC) — Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh said a physically strong, mentally enriched and healthy society has an irreplaceable role in realizing Ethiopia’s national vision of prosperity.
The Deputy Prime Minister made the remarks on Thursday while inaugurating the renovation, expansion and digitalization project of the Amhara Regional Health Bureau.
Temesgen said significant achievements have been recorded in Ethiopia’s health sector in recent years, noting that maternal and child mortality as well as the spread of diseases have been substantially reduced.
He said the newly inaugurated project is among the important initiatives being implemented at the national level to enhance public service delivery, adding that the expanded and digitalized facility will enable the provision of convenient, efficient and quality services for both service providers and beneficiaries.
The Deputy Prime Minister further said the modernization project will help promote transparent systems, improve responsiveness and accountability, and create an environment that supports mental well-being and innovative thinking.
Temesgen said the renovated, expanded and digitalized Amhara Regional Health Bureau will play a significant role in delivering better health services and meeting the needs of the community, contributing to the efforts to build a healthier Amhara and a stronger Ethiopia.
