Ethiopia and Liberia agree to strengthen military industry, technical cooperation
Addis Ababa, April 14, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia and Liberia have agreed to strengthen cooperation in military industry and technology following high-level talks held in Addis Ababa.
Ethiopia’s Minister of Defense, Aisha Mohammed, held discussions with her Liberian counterpart, Geraldine Janet George, focusing on ways to further deepen bilateral defense cooperation.
Aisha Mohammed underscored that Ethiopia and Liberia, as historic symbols of African independence, share longstanding ties that provide a strong foundation for enhanced collaboration. She reaffirmed Ethiopia’s readiness to work with Liberia in military industry development and capacity building.
The two sides also discussed strategic issues aimed at advancing military cooperation, with particular emphasis on training, technical cooperation, and institutional engagement.
For her part, Geraldine Janet George noted that Ethiopia’s experience in military science, modern defense institution building, and peacekeeping operations offers valuable lessons for Liberia. She expressed her country’s strong interest in drawing on Ethiopia’s expertise to strengthen its defense capabilities.
Both sides further agreed on the importance of consolidating cooperation in training and technical areas to elevate defense relations between the two countries.
