Ethiopia Begins Sorting National Dialogue Recommendations Ahead of Parliamentary Submission

Addis Ababa, September 7, 2026 (FMC) — The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission has begun organizing recommendations emerging from the country’s landmark National Dialogue Conference by category, ahead of their submission to the House of Peoples’ Representatives and subsequent steps toward public disclosure and implementation.

The Commission said the recommendations gathered through the dialogue reflect Ethiopians’ determination to deliberate on matters of national importance and seek solutions through consultation.

Under its mandate, the Commission is preparing a document outlining the National Dialogue’s agendas, consultation process, recommendations and mechanisms for putting them into practice. The document and organized recommendations will be submitted to the House of Peoples’ Representatives, the Commission said.

Following the parliamentary submission, the recommendations will be made public through an appropriate mechanism before being presented to the executive branch for implementation.

The Commission said it will subsequently monitor the implementation of the recommendations, in line with the responsibilities assigned to it under Proclamation No. 1265/2014.

The development marks the next institutional stage of Ethiopia’s National Dialogue, shifting the focus from the deliberative process that brought together participants from across the country to organizing its outcomes and advancing them through the formal state process.
