Ethiopia, Norway Explore Expanded Cooperation Across Trade, Investment, and Climate Ahead of COP32

Addis Ababa/Oslo, April 25, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, met with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide, in Oslo to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The meeting took place during Minister Gedion’s ongoing visit to Scandinavian countries.

During the discussions, Minister Gedion highlighted the strong and longstanding friendship between Ethiopia and Norway, emphasizing the potential to expand collaboration in key areas such as trade, investment, and environmental protection.

Minister Eide noted the keen interest of Norwegian companies in exploring investment opportunities in Ethiopia and affirmed Norway’s commitment to supporting Ethiopia’s preparations for hosting COP32.

In addition to the foreign ministerial meeting, Gedion engaged with Norway’s Minister of International Development, Minister of Climate and Environment, the CEO of Norway’s Investment Fund, the Director General of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, and various Norwegian investors to explore further avenues of mutual cooperation.
