Ethiopian Foreign Minister confers with South African counterpart

Addis Ababa, May 14, 2026 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, today met with Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Ronald Lamola on the sidelines of the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi, India.

Discussions focused on bilateral relations between the two countries and the ministers have agreed to work together to jointly address concerns over recent incidents targeting Ethiopian citizens in South Africa.

The Ethiopian Foreign Minister is attending the 2026 BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in the Indian capital.
