Israel to Deepen Investment, Technology Cooperation with Ethiopia: Ambassador

Addis Ababa, May 19, 2026 (FMC) – Israel will further strengthen its investment engagement and development cooperation with Ethiopia, Israeli Ambassador to Ethiopia Avram Nigusse said exclusively to Fana Media Corporation, highlighting the growing strategic partnership between the two countries.

The ambassador spoke to Fana Media Corporation on the sidelines of a field visit conducted by ambassadors and members of the diplomatic community to Ethiopia’s Special Economic Zones and major investment projects.

Ambassador Avram said Ethiopia and Israel continue to enjoy longstanding bilateral relations anchored in deep historical ties and strong people-to-people connections.

He noted that cooperation between the two countries in agricultural technology, healthcare, innovation, and human resource development will continue to expand, adding that ongoing collaborative efforts in these sectors are yielding encouraging progress.

According to the ambassador, Ethiopia and Israel are also working to elevate cooperation in emerging and high-value sectors, including cybersecurity, information technology, and modern medical infrastructure.

He further emphasized that Israeli technology institutions are keen to support Ethiopia’s digital transformation agenda and broader digitalization initiatives.

Ambassador Avram also underscored that the longstanding historical relationship and close community ties between the peoples of Ethiopia and Israel continue to serve as a strong pillar for enhancing economic and diplomatic cooperation.

The exclusive interview was conducted during a large-scale diplomatic field visit jointly organized by the Ethiopian Investment Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, bringing together more than 80 embassies, international development partner organizations, and diplomats based in Addis Ababa.

As part of the visit, the diplomatic delegation toured several of Ethiopia’s key industrial and investment destinations, including the Bole Lemi Industrial Park, Kilinto Industrial Park, Eastern Industrial Zone, and the ICT Park.

Meanwhile, Yohannes Fanta called on members of the diplomatic community to encourage leading companies from their respective countries to invest in Ethiopia and capitalize on opportunities available in the country’s Special Economic Zones.

He added that the government will continue providing the necessary support and incentives to investors operating in the sector.
