Mauritian PM Hails Ethiopia’s Progress, Vows to Deepen Bilateral Relations
Addis Ababa, July 15, 2026 (FMC) — Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam has commended Ethiopia’s development progress and reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
The remarks came during a meeting with State Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Hadera Abera, who delivered a message from Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to the Mauritian leader.
During the discussion, Ambassador Hadera highlighted Ethiopia’s strong interest in advancing its longstanding relations with Mauritius and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual benefit.
Prime Minister Ramgoolam expressed his commitment to elevating Ethiopia–Mauritius relations across a wide range of sectors, emphasizing the importance of enhanced cooperation for the shared interests of both countries.
The launch of Ethiopian Airlines’ first direct passenger service between Addis Ababa and Port Louis, Mauritius, has also marked a new milestone in strengthening connectivity between the two countries.
Commencing operations on July 12, the new route operates three times a week and is expected to enhance tourism, trade, investment links, and people-to-people exchanges while providing Mauritius with greater access to Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive global network through Addis Ababa.
