Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulates PM Abiy Ahmed and Prosperity Party on election victory

Addis Ababa, June 25, 2026 (FMC) – Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Ethiopia’s Prosperity Party following their victory in the country’s parliamentary elections, joining a growing number of international leaders acknowledging the outcome.

In a message shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his congratulations to the Ethiopian leadership, welcoming the outcome of the general election.

He highlighted the longstanding goodwill between Pakistan and Ethiopia, describing bilateral relations as warm and steadily expanding, with further opportunities for cooperation ahead.

The Pakistani Prime Minister also extended his best wishes for continued peace, progress, and prosperity for the people of Ethiopia, while reaffirming his country’s commitment to deepening engagement with Ethiopia across multiple sectors.

The statement comes amid a series of diplomatic reactions following the Prosperity Party’s electoral victory, which secured the ruling party a renewed parliamentary mandate.
