PM Abiy discusses bilateral ties with Portugal’s Minister of State and Foreign Affairs Paulo Rangel

Addis Ababa, April 14, 2026 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) today held talks with Portugal’s Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Paulo Rangel, at his office.

The discussions focused on ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation across key areas, according to the Prime Minister.

In a social media post, the Premier noted that both sides exchanged views on enhancing partnership and deepening engagement between the two countries.

Ethiopia and Portugal share historical ties dating back to the 16th century, when diplomatic and religious contacts were established, laying the foundation for longstanding relations between the two nations.
