PM Abiy Extends Condolences to Norway over Passing of King Harald V
Addis Ababa, August 30, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has extended condolences to King Haakon VIII, the Royal Family, Government and people of Norway following the passing of King Harald V.
In a message posted to social media platform X, the Prime Minister conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Government and people of Ethiopia, expressing solidarity with the Norwegian people during their time of mourning.
Prime Minister Abiy described Norway as a steadfast partner of Ethiopia, underscoring the longstanding ties between the two countries.
He also wished eternal peace for the late King Harald V, who passed away at the age of 89 after more than three decades on the Norwegian throne. His son, Haakon VIII, succeeded him as King of Norway following his death.
