PM Abiy Inaugurates Grandeur Ceramic Manufacturing Plant in Mojo
Addis Ababa, May 23, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, together with high-level government officials, inaugurated Grandeur Ceramic Manufacturing in Mojo City, a world-class ceramic and porcelain tile manufacturing facility built on 300,000 square meters and completed within nine months from land preparation to full commissioning.

The factory has already commenced production of 60×60 ceramic tiles and is expected to expand within the next two months to manufacture 80×80, 60×120, 70×140, and 80×160 tile formats, in addition to porcelain tiles produced to European quality standards.
With an investment exceeding 2 billion birr, the facility is said to mark a significant milestone in Ethiopia’s industrial transformation efforts.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, nearly 80 percent of the factory’s raw materials are sourced locally from within a 100-kilometer radius, helping establish a fully integrated and community-rooted supply chain.
The inauguration comes at a time Ethiopia has reportedly saved more than 4.85 billion U.S. dollars in foreign exchange within nine months through import substitution initiatives.
Grandeur Ceramic is expected to contribute to reducing imports while positioning Ethiopia to compete in global markets, the Office added.
