PM Abiy: National Dialogue Handover Marks Important Milestone in Addressing Ethiopia’s Longstanding Challenges

Addis Ababa, October 3, 2026 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said the formal handover of the consolidated agenda items and recommendations emerging from Ethiopia’s National Dialogue to Parliament, the Federal Government and Regional Governments marks a new milestone in addressing the country’s longstanding challenges.

Prime Minister Abiy made the remarks today after overseeing the formal handover of the National Dialogue outcomes to the House of Peoples’ Representatives, the Federal Government and Regional Governments.

He said the handover reaffirms Ethiopia’s commitment to addressing longstanding national challenges through inclusive dialogue, peaceful deliberation and nationally owned solutions.

The consolidated agenda items and recommendations are the outcome of Ethiopia’s landmark National Dialogue process, which brought together citizens from across the country and Ethiopians and people of Ethiopian descent residing abroad for extensive consultation, deliberation and consensus-building.

The formal handover places the outcomes of the dialogue before the country’s legislative, federal and regional institutions, opening the next stage of the process as the recommendations move from national deliberation into institutional consideration and follow-up.
