President Taye expresses sadness over death of National Dialogue Commissioner Zegeye Asfaw

Addis Ababa, May 12, 2026 (FMC) — #Ethiopian President Taye Atske-Selassie has expressed condolences over the passing of Zegeye Asfaw, Commissioner of the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission, who died on Tuesday.

In a statement shared on social media, the President described Zegeye as a progressive leader who played a key role in addressing the long-standing grievances of Ethiopian farmers and ensuring that their calls for land to the tiller were heard.

The President added that Zegeye’s contributions will be remembered across generations and expressed deep sorrow over his passing.
