Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Holds Talks with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia on Security and regional Stability

Addis Ababa, June 29, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has held bilateral talks with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia in Addis Ababa, focusing on strengthening economic cooperation, enhancing security coordination, and advancing regional stability in the Horn of Africa.

Following the meeting, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed described the discussions as grounded in “trust and mutual respect,” underscoring the importance of sustained engagement between the two neighboring countries.

He noted that Ethiopia and Somalia “share more than borders,” adding that the two nations are also connected by “people and a common destiny.”

The talks reflect ongoing high-level engagement between Addis Ababa and Mogadishu aimed at deepening cooperation on shared priorities, including peace, security, and economic integration in the region.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived in Addis Ababa on Sunday for official working visit.
