Tinsae Sebe’a Enderta Party Demands an End to Illegal TPLF’s Abuses and Political Manipulation in Tigray

Addis Ababa, August 22, 2026 (FMC) — The Tinsae Sebe’a Enderta Party has demanded an end to the abuses and political manipulation of the illegal Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) in the Tigray region, urging the people of the region to intensify their struggle against the group and prevent its destructive activities from again destabilizing Tigray, Ethiopia and the wider Horn of Africa.

Party Chairman Kebede Assefa denounced the illegal TPLF’s continued alignment with forces hostile to Ethiopia, saying its destructive alliances represent a continuation of an agenda aimed at weakening Ethiopia, undermining its sovereignty and obstructing its long-term development.

He specifically pointed to the alliance the group established with the forces of Shabia under the name “Tsimdo,” describing it as a foreign-driven project designed to weaken Ethiopia, disrupt its development and expose the country and the wider Horn of Africa to renewed instability.

Kebede said the formation of this alliance demonstrates the illegal group’s longstanding subordination of Ethiopia’s interests to foreign agendas. Rather than defending the interests of Ethiopia and the people of the Tigray region, he said, the TPLF has repeatedly advanced the interests of external forces, with consequences extending far beyond the region.

He further condemned the group’s persecution and elimination of Ethiopian citizens from the Tigray region who upheld a strong sense of Ethiopian identity or understood what he described as its hidden agenda, citing these actions as further evidence of the group’s destructive political conduct.

Kebede also denounced the TPLF’s violation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement and its return to a destructive course, saying the group’s actions expose its entrenched pattern of serving foreign interests at the expense of peace, national stability and regional security.

He warned against attempts to advance external interests by sacrificing the youth of the Tigray region, saying growing awareness among the people and younger generation has prevented such efforts from achieving their intended objectives.

The party chairman called on people of Tigrayan origin across Ethiopia to stand together and intensify their efforts to swiftly remove the illegal group and end its abuses, stressing that confronting the group is essential not only for peace in Tigray but also for Ethiopia’s broader stability.

He also urged Ethiopian citizens of Tigrayan origin living abroad to exert their influence to help stop what he described as the suffering and abuses inflicted by the group and to prevent external forces from exploiting the region as a platform for destabilizing Ethiopia, according to the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA).

Kebede stressed that the people of the Tigray region must reject efforts to use their youth as instruments for advancing external agendas and instead strengthen their collective resolve to end the illegal group’s political manipulation and destructive activities.

He said the continued confrontation must not be allowed to drag Tigray, Ethiopia and the wider Horn of Africa back into another cycle of conflict, urging stronger public vigilance, unity and decisive action to protect peace, sovereignty and development across the region.
