Photographic exhibition “Ethiopia Through the Eyes of Diplomats” opens in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, June 12, 2025 (FMC) — A photographic exhibition titled “Ethiopia Through the Eyes of Diplomats” was officially inaugurated this evening at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Addis Ababa.
The exhibition is a collaborative initiative by members of the diplomatic corps and the Culture Club, in partnership with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Organized under the theme “Togetherness – Celebrating Diversity and Harmony,” the exhibition features compelling photographs taken by diplomats during their field visits across Ethiopia.
The images highlight the country’s rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and the spirit of harmony that defines its people.
The initiative is jointly spearheaded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco, in collaboration with the Embassies of Romania, Brazil, Canada, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, and the UNESCO Representation in Ethiopia. Proceeds from the sale of the photographs will go toward supporting promising young Ethiopian artists.
Delivering the keynote address, State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Berhanu Tsegaye, described the exhibition as a heartfelt tribute to Ethiopia by members of the international diplomatic community who have made the country their second home.
“Your contribution reflects the deep bonds that can flourish between nations and peoples through shared experience and mutual respect,” he stated.
Ambassador Berhanu emphasized that Ethiopia is not only a land of ancient civilizations and breathtaking landscapes, but also a nation defined by its vibrant resilience. “This exhibition invites us to view Ethiopia not only through the lenses of diplomats, but through the perspectives of friends,” he noted.
He went on to highlight Addis Ababa’s prominent role on the global stage, noting that the city ranks as the third-largest diplomatic center in the world, following New York and Geneva.
As the seat of the African Union and host to numerous international organizations, Addis Ababa serves not only as a political capital, but also as a cultural and intellectual hub.
The State Minister also praised the city’s ongoing transformation, citing major infrastructure projects such as the urban corridor development initiative, which are contributing to Addis Ababa’s emergence as a smart, clean, and green metropolis.
He extended his gratitude to all stakeholders who played a role in organizing and curating the exhibition.
According to the organizers, the exhibition will remain open to the public from June 13 to 25, 2025.
