PM Abiy Reaffirms Government’s Commitment to Collaboration with Competing Political Parties
Addis Ababa, June 20, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has reaffirmed the government’s openness to working closely with competing political parties across Ethiopia.
During a discussion with representatives from rival parties nationwide, the Prime Minister emphasized that such engagements are a crucial part of the ongoing political reforms aimed at strengthening Ethiopia’s political landscape.
He acknowledged that no political environment is without challenges, noting that both competition and cooperation naturally coexist within politics. The ruling Prosperity Party, he said, is committed to fostering healthy competition alongside constructive collaboration with other parties.
Highlighting the government’s inclusive approach, Abiy pointed out that 273 representatives from competing political parties currently serve in various leadership positions across different government levels, demonstrating a genuine spirit of cooperation.
The Prime Minister also stressed the government’s efforts to build a stronger Ethiopia by enhancing the inclusiveness of all political forces. He encouraged rival parties to unite in generating innovative ideas for the country’s development.
