The Language of a Soldier is Service to the Country and Its People, Says President Taye

Addis Ababa, September 20, 2025 (FMC) – The FDRE President Taye Atske-Selassie has emphasized that the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) is committed to the nation through service, loyalty, and readiness, reflecting the principle that the language of a soldier is to serve the country and its people.

During a ceremony to elevate senior military officers, based on recommendations from Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, President Taye noted that the promotions recognize the courage, strength, and loyalty demonstrated by senior officers in the line of duty.

The East African nation’s head of state explained that the current status and preparedness of the ENDF reflect this dedication.

The President highlighted that the defense forces are self-reliant, technologically advanced, and highly skilled, offering strong protection in a region where forces seeking to disrupt Ethiopia’s sovereignty are present.

He stressed that this readiness signals the nation’s resilience and unwavering resolve.

President Taye also commended the personnel who worked tirelessly to modernize the defense sector, ensuring that the forces remain capable, resilient, and technologically advanced.

He reiterated Ethiopia’s commitment to peace, development, and prosperity.

The ceremony also saw the conferring of senior military ranks, with several officers promoted to General, Lieutenant General, Major General, and Brigadier General, in recognition of their distinguished service, loyalty, and leadership within the ENDF.
