Visa brings industry stakeholders together to advance Ethiopia’s digital payments sector
Addis Ababa, February 25, 2026 (FMC) — Visa, a global leader in digital payments, has concluded a comprehensive two-day market-wide training program aimed at strengthening Ethiopia’s digital payments ecosystem.
Held from 24–25 February 2026, the capacity-building initiative brought together Ethiopian banks, fintech companies, and payment ecosystem partners for intensive training designed to enhance technical expertise and operational capacity across modern digital payment systems.
The workshop provided participants with in-depth knowledge and practical insights spanning the full digital payments value chain. Sessions covered payment processing fundamentals, business card solutions, tokenization, fraud-risk management, regulatory compliance, and instant money transfer services through Visa Direct.
According to the organizers, the program focused on strengthening understanding of the economics, technologies, risk frameworks, and operational best practices that underpin a secure, inclusive, and efficient digital payments ecosystem.
The training aligns with Visa’s commitment to expanding local expertise and supporting Ethiopia’s ongoing digital transformation within the financial sector.
