NISS launches digital platform to enhance public engagement and national security information flow
Addis Ababa, March 5, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) has launched a new digital communication platform designed to strengthen public engagement while facilitating the exchange of information related to national security and public safety.
According to information the Service provided to Fana Media Corporation, the platform has been internally developed and enhanced as part of ongoing institutional reforms aimed at strengthening the agency’s operational capacity through the advancement of indigenous technological capabilities.
The newly introduced system differs in several respects from the institution’s conventional website and is designed to deliver a range of public-facing services.
A central feature of the platform is a dedicated reporting interface that enables citizens to submit information related to security, safety and other relevant issues from any location.
NISS has also called on citizens to support Ethiopia’s national security efforts by sharing reliable and verified information through the “Report Information” page after logging in to https://www.niss.gov.et/ .
In addition to facilitating public reporting, the platform will disseminate up-to-date information concerning national security and other related developments, according to the statement.
It will also provide early warning alerts regarding potential threats that may arise in different parts of Ethiopia.
The Service noted that the platform is expected to play an important role in helping both citizens and foreign nationals exercise greater caution in their activities by utilizing the information provided.
The communication platform further includes an application portal through which citizens who meet the institution’s requirements and possess specialized skills can apply for future recruitment opportunities to join the Service and serve their country.
NISS also stated that the platform has undergone a security vulnerability assessment conducted by the Information Network Security Administration (INSA) of Ethiopia and has been granted a certificate of verification.
