Ethiopia convenes consultative forum to evaluate major social sector reforms over the past eight years
Addis Ababa, April 28, 2026 (FMC) – A consultative forum on social development has opened in Addis Ababa under the theme “Social Development for Nation Building,” bringing together stakeholders to review Ethiopia’s progress in the social sector.

The forum, held in the presence of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, is assessing major achievements recorded over recent years, with a particular focus on developments over the past eight years.
According to information from the Office of the Prime Minister, the discussions cover key sectors including education, health, skills-based job creation, culture, arts and sports, as well as women’s and social affairs.
The platform is expected to provide a comprehensive review of outcomes and reforms, contributing to broader national efforts aimed at strengthening social development and advancing nation building.
