India–Africa Forum Summit IV Postponed Amid Evolving Health Situation in Africa

Addis Ababa, May 21, 2026 (FMC) – India and the African Union have agreed to postpone the Fourth India–Africa Forum Summit (IAFS IV), which had been scheduled to take place in New Delhi from May 28–31, 2026.

According to a joint press release issued following consultations between the Government of India, the Chairperson of the African Union, and the African Union Commission, the decision was made in light of the evolving public health situation in parts of Africa.

The two sides reaffirmed the importance of continued cooperation in strengthening public health preparedness and response capacities across the continent, including through support to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) and relevant national institutions.

India also reiterated its solidarity with the peoples and governments of Africa and expressed readiness to contribute to Africa CDC-led efforts aimed at addressing the evolving health situation in line with the shared commitment to an Africa-led response.

The statement noted that the postponement was agreed upon to ensure the full participation and engagement of African leaders and stakeholders in the summit and its associated activities.

India and the African Union further confirmed that new dates for the summit and related meetings will be finalized through mutual consultations and communicated in due course.

The two sides also reaffirmed their longstanding partnership founded on solidarity, mutual respect, South–South cooperation, and a shared commitment to peace, development, prosperity, and the well-being of their peoples.
