Venezuela Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 4,333 as Recovery Efforts Continue

Addis Ababa, July 11, 2026 (FMC) β€” The death toll from the devastating twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela has climbed to 4,333, while 16,740 people have been injured, according to the latest figures released by Venezuelan authorities.

National Assembly President Jorge RodrΓ­guez said 315 victims remain unidentified, adding that about 17,000 people have been left homeless following the powerful earthquakes that hit the country on June 24.

The disasters caused widespread destruction, with authorities reporting that 856 buildings were affected, including 190 structures that either collapsed or sustained severe damage. Search and rescue teams have so far rescued 6,462 people, while emergency operations continue in several affected areas.

The earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude, struck Venezuela’s coastal region, particularly affecting La Guaira state and areas around the capital Caracas. The disaster has triggered a major humanitarian response as authorities move toward reconstruction efforts.

The Venezuelan government has announced plans to rebuild damaged communities, including the construction of new homes for families displaced by the disaster.
