Moroccan Paralympic Medalist Mohamed Lahna Nears Completion of Historic Triathlon Across America

Addis Ababa, July 30, 2026 (FMC) — Moroccan Paralympic medalist and adaptive endurance athlete Mohamed Lahna is approaching the final stage of his historic coast-to-coast triathlon across the United States, having begun a 350-mile run from Las Vegas to Los Angeles after completing a 3,000-mile cycling journey across 16 states.

Lahna, a three-time Paralympic medalist, launched the “250 Triathlon Across America” on June 13 with a 28.5-mile swim around Manhattan Island, followed by the cross-country cycling challenge, which he completed three days ahead of schedule.

He is now attempting to become the first athlete with a prosthesis to complete a triathlon of this format across the United States, covering more than 3,300 miles during the country’s semi-quincentennial year while raising funds for Save the Children and the Challenged Athletes Foundation.

Supported by Swiss sportswear brand On, Lahna is completing the final endurance leg under extreme desert conditions between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The company said it is supporting his journey through performance footwear and its “Right To Run” initiative, which promotes access to movement for underrepresented communities.

For the final run, Lahna has relied on On’s high-performance footwear designed to provide cushioning, reduce friction and help manage the physical demands of long-distance running with a prosthesis. He is expected to finish the challenge at Venice Beach, Los Angeles, near the future site of the LA28 Paralympic triathlon.

The journey has also carried a deeply personal mission for Lahna, who was born without a right femur in Morocco. He previously benefited from support linked to Save the Children and the Challenged Athletes Foundation, organizations that played a role in his path toward adaptive sports.

Through the challenge, Lahna aims to inspire people with disabilities and demonstrate that physical limitations do not define human potential.

“Throughout my life, people have often focused on what they believed I couldn’t do,” Lahna said. “This challenge is about showing what is possible when you refuse to let limitations define you.”
