Ethiopia Advances Global Anti-Corruption Cooperation Through BRICS Platform

Addis Ababa, August 5, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia has strengthened its engagement in international efforts to combat corruption through its participation in the 2nd BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG) Meeting held in Hyderabad, India.

The meeting brought together BRICS member states and partners to discuss enhanced cooperation in preventing and combating corruption, with a focus on strengthening law enforcement collaboration, tracing corruption-related fugitive offenders, and supporting efforts to facilitate extradition processes.

During the working group meeting, Ethiopia shared its experiences and ongoing measures in fighting corruption and promoting ethical governance, highlighting the country’s commitment to advancing collective action against corruption through international partnerships.

Representing Ethiopia at the forum, Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Deputy Commissioner Eshetu Asfaw reaffirmed Ethiopia’s readiness to deepen cooperation within the BRICS framework and contribute to joint initiatives aimed at strengthening anti-corruption mechanisms.

Participants also discussed initiatives including the establishment of a BRICS Repository on Informal Cooperation and the development of a Network of Law Enforcement Practitioners to improve coordination among institutions responsible for tackling corruption-related crimes.
