Deputy PM Says Faster, Better and More Transparent Services Remain Reform Priorities in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, July 31, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia is advancing efforts to modernize government services through technology, innovation, and institutional improvements, with faster and more transparent service delivery remaining a key priority, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh said.

Mr. Temesgen said the ongoing government service reform is already bringing improvements in how citizens access public services, with people-centered Mesob one-stop services expanding across cities and addressing long-standing complaints.

In a social media post following a Reform Council meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister said a comprehensive home-grown Government Service and Administration Performance Report was reviewed, showing progress in implementation driven by innovation, speed, and strong ownership among implementing institutions.

He said the reform process is focused not only on immediate improvements but also on building sustainable systems through disciplined implementation, knowledge, and stronger institutional capacity.

The Deputy Prime Minister said the Reform Council has directed that government service reform should continue advancing through technology, improved quality, innovation, and integrity.

He added that strengthening data systems, expanding technological capacity, and upgrading the skills of public servants will remain central priorities in further improving government service delivery.
