Addis Ababa, July 29, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia has continued to strengthen its engagement with African partners as Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos held separate talks with the Foreign Ministers of the Republic of the Congo and Angola on the sidelines of the 49th Ordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council in Addis Ababa.
The discussions focused on advancing bilateral cooperation, exploring new areas of partnership and exchanging views on key continental issues of shared interest.
In his meeting with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of the Congo, FM Gedion discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in emerging areas, including artificial intelligence, as well as climate change mitigation and resilience efforts.
The two sides also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic relations, recognizing enhanced trade and investment cooperation as an important pillar of their bilateral partnership.
During his talks with Angola’s Foreign Minister, FM Gedion exchanged views on bilateral and continental matters of mutual interest.
The two ministers underscored the importance of closer cooperation to strengthen African Union institutional mechanisms and advance shared African priorities.
