Ethiopia will expand one-stop service model nationwide following MESOB’s effectiveness – PM Abiy

Addis Ababa, April 22, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has said Ethiopia will expand its one-stop service delivery model across the country, pointing to early outcomes from the implementation of MESOB services as a basis for further rollout.

In a message shared on his social media platforms, the Prime Minister said a shift in the country’s public service delivery approach is necessary, particularly in how services are structured and accessed.

He linked this to Ethiopia’s broader five development pillars, noting that the service sector is being reoriented with technology as a central tool to improve efficiency and access.

He explained that the one-stop service approach has only recently begun implementation, but indicated that initial experience with MESOB services has demonstrated clear improvements in user satisfaction, which he said supports the case for wider application of the model.

PM Abiy said the launch of MESOB mobile services represents the next stage in extending integrated service delivery beyond physical centers. He described the initiative as part of ongoing efforts to consolidate services and reduce the procedural burden on citizens.

He added that expanding such integrated systems is expected to improve the use of time in service delivery processes and reduce delays experienced by service users.

The Prime Minister further stated that the government will continue broadening integrated service platforms with the aim of improving efficiency and expanding access to public services nationwide.
