Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian Discuss Red Sea Developments and Regional Stability
Addis Ababa, September 12, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi, with the two leaders discussing developments in the Red Sea and the broader regional security situation.
In a social media post following the meeting, Prime Minister Abiy said the discussions focused on the importance of dialogue and regional stability.
The meeting took place as part of the BRICS Summit, bringing together leaders of the expanded BRICS membership to advance cooperation and discuss shared regional and global priorities.
The engagement highlights Ethiopia’s active diplomatic participation at the summit and its continued dialogue with fellow BRICS partners on matters of regional peace, security and cooperation.
