Ethiopia’s Commitment to Regional, Global Peace Built on Longstanding History: ENDF Logistics Chief
Addis Ababa, July 27, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) Logistics Chief Lieutenant General Abdurahman Ismail said Ethiopia’s commitment to regional and global peace and security is rooted in a longstanding history of contributions and sacrifices.
The Logistics Chief made the remarks at the opening of the 2026 African Communications and Logistics Symposium (ALCS), co-hosted by Ethiopia and the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) in Addis Ababa.
Lieutenant General Abdurahman said Ethiopia’s commitment to peace is not a recent development but is built on a long historical foundation demonstrated through the country’s contributions to international and regional peace efforts.
He highlighted Ethiopia’s participation in peace missions from Korea to Congo, as well as its recent contributions to United Nations and African Union peacekeeping operations, saying the sacrifices made by Ethiopian troops stand as a living testament to the country’s commitment to peace and security.
The Logistics Chief said Ethiopia continues to play a leading role in combating terrorism and supporting efforts to ensure lasting peace in the East African region.
He noted that these efforts demonstrate Ethiopia’s commitment not only to its own security but also to the broader peace and security of humanity.
Addressing the importance of logistics and communications in military operations, Lieutenant General Abdurahman said logistics supports fighting forces through effective supply systems and planning, while communications facilitate information flow and strengthen command structures.
He emphasized that modern and organized logistics and communications systems are essential for successful operations and need to be strengthened in line with evolving technological developments.
The ENDF official said the symposium provides an important platform to identify common challenges, develop sustainable solutions, exchange experiences, and explore innovative approaches in logistics and communications.
The 2026 African Communications and Logistics Symposium has brought together defense leaders, military experts, and industry partners from across Africa and beyond to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation, readiness, and security capabilities.
