Over 46 million Ethiopians registered so far for upcoming general elections, NEBE says

Addis Ababa, April 18, 2026 (FMC) — The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has announced that more than 46 million citizens have so far registered to vote in the country’s 7th general elections scheduled for 1 June 2026.

NEBE recalled that voter registration has been underway since 7 March 2026, conducted through both digital and manual registration systems.

According to data released by the Board, a total of 46,732,895 voters have so far registered for the upcoming general elections.

Of the total registered voters, 21,515,693 are women, while 25,217,202 are men.

The data further shows that among registered voters, 69,286 women and 96,441 men are persons with disabilities.
