PM Abiy Ahmed Launches MESOB Mobile Bus Service to Deliver Integrated Public Services to Communities
Addis Ababa, April 22, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has launched the MESOB Mobile Bus Service, an integrated public service platform designed to bring essential government services directly to communities.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the mobile unit is a fully equipped, self-contained service hub that consolidates multiple government services into a single operational system. It is designed to support efficient and orderly service delivery through a built-in queue management system that organizes service flow.
The unit is powered in part by an 8-kilowatt solar energy system and is equipped with stable internet connectivity to support digital operations. It also features multiple payment options, while surveillance cameras have been installed to enhance safety and ensure transparency throughout service delivery.
The MESOB Mobile Bus Service integrates services from eight different institutions, enabling citizens to access key government functions without visiting multiple offices.
The services include issuance of new Tax Identification Numbers (TIN), business license issuance and renewal, medical examinations required for driver’s licenses, ID renewal and birth registration, driver’s license issuance and vehicle plate renewal, Ethiopian Postal Service functions including road fund payments, National ID registration and data correction, and prepaid electricity services through the Ethiopian Electric Utility.
The initiative is aimed at improving accessibility to public services by reducing the need for long-distance travel and minimizing the time and administrative burden associated with accessing services from multiple institutions.
