PM Abiy Ahmed Meets Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng on Expanding Ethiopia-Vietnam Cooperation

Addis Ababa, September 12, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has held talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi, with the two leaders discussing ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation between Ethiopia and Vietnam.

Prime Minister Abiy described the discussions as constructive, focusing on strengthening the relationship and identifying opportunities to broaden cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting took place on the margins of the two-day BRICS Leaders’ Summit, which brings together leaders and senior representatives to advance dialogue and cooperation on shared global priorities.

The engagement adds to Ethiopia’s high-level diplomatic interactions on the sidelines of the New Delhi summit, providing an opportunity to further develop bilateral ties with Vietnam and explore areas of mutual cooperation.
