Tigray Region Residents Take to Streets in Relief and Celebration as Region Is Freed from the Yoke of TPLF Remnants

Addis Ababa, October 12, 2026 (FMC) — Residents across Ethiopia’s Tigray region are taking to the streets to express relief and renewed hope as the region is freed from the yoke of TPLF remnants, voicing support for the federal government’s efforts to restore peace, stability and normal life.

The public demonstrations reflect demands for an end to disruption and for the restoration of conditions in which communities can rebuild their lives, resume economic and social activities, and look toward a more secure future.

In Adi Gudem town, in the Southeastern Zone of the region, residents rallied in support of the federal government, denouncing the TPLF and calling for lasting peace and stability. Participants stressed the urgent need to restore normalcy across the region and enable people to return to their daily lives.

The demonstrations come as the federal government continues to provide humanitarian assistance and restore essential public services in affected areas. The resumption of these services is helping communities regain access to basic necessities and laying the groundwork for economic recovery and renewed social activity.

Residents emphasized that lasting peace is indispensable to rebuilding communities and restoring normal life throughout the region. Their calls underscore the need for stability, functioning public services and an opportunity for people to move forward after prolonged disruption.
