Malawi official awards high praise to Ethiopia’s Science Museum for innovation and vision

Addis Ababa, July 10, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Science Museum has been hailed as a powerful symbol of Africa’s innovation and vision by Kadzamira Boniface, Chairperson of Malawi’s Small and Medium Enterprises Development Corporation (SMEDCO), who described it as “phenomenal” and “beyond expectations.”

During his visit to Addis Ababa for the 3rd Africa Job Creation Forum, Kadzamira was deeply impressed by the museum’s architectural brilliance, immersive exhibits, and futuristic outlook — calling it a continental model of what Africa can achieve when technology and ambition meet.

“We are thoroughly amazed. It transcended expectations,” he said. “This experience has been so remarkable, and I believe it has left a lasting impression on everyone who visited. The Science Museum represents the greatness of Africa. You have positioned yourselves as a leader in this regard.”

Kadzamira also praised Ethiopia more broadly for its efforts to inspire and lead across sectors. He said Addis Ababa reflects a powerful blend of historical significance and modern progress.

“This marks my first true visit to Ethiopia — past ones were only transit stops,” he noted. “What I’ve seen here in Addis has been astonishing. It doesn’t resemble the stereotype of an African city. It’s clean, vibrant, and beautiful — I never expected to witness what I have.”

He added that the Ethiopian people’s warmth and hospitality made the visit even more memorable. “It feels like home — almost like a second home,” he said.

The SMEDCO Chairperson was in Addis Ababa attending the 3rd Africa Job Creation Forum, held from July 7–9 under the theme “Advancing Job Creation and Economic Resilience through Regional Integration, Digital and Financial Inclusion along Agricultural Value Chains in the AfCFTA Market.”

Kadzamira described the Forum as an “enlightening experience” and a vital learning opportunity, not just for Malawians but for youth across the continent.

“This was a unique chance to gain valuable insights,” he said. “We return to our countries energized and ready to share what we’ve learned with our communities.”

He highlighted key takeaways from the Forum, including the importance of regional integration, technology transfer, and inclusive entrepreneurship — especially for women and youth.

“These lessons will directly inform our work at SMEDCO,” he stated. “We aim to strengthen small and medium enterprises in Malawi, with a renewed focus on homegrown talent and inclusive economic growth.”

Looking ahead, Kadzamira emphasized his optimism about Africa’s future, citing Ethiopia as a model of deliberate development, innovation, and regional partnership.

“Ethiopia is setting the pace for what Africa can become,” he told local news agency ENA. “The inspiration and knowledge we’ve gained here will help shape our policies and programs back home — toward a more prosperous, self-reliant, and forward-looking Africa.”
