Ethiopia’s Ruling Prosperity Party Wins 438 Seats as NEBE Announces Final Results of the 7th General Election
Addis Ababa, June 21, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party has won 438 seats in the House of People’s Representatives, according to the final results of the country’s 7th General Election announced by the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE).
The results were presented by NEBE Deputy Chairperson Tesfaye Neway, following verification and approval by the Board’s Executive Council.
The Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice (EZEMA) secured 13 parliamentary seats, while the National Movement of Amhara (NaMA) obtained 6 seats in the Amhara Regional State.
The Sidama-based political platform won 3 parliamentary seats, while other political parties also gained representation across different regions through their respective candidates.
Independent candidates have also secured seats in various constituencies as part of the final certified results announced by the Board.
The announcement was made during a national results ceremony held in Addis Ababa in the presence of President Taye Atske Selassie, representatives of political parties and civic organizations, ambassadors from various countries, diplomatic representatives, and members of the media.
