More Than 578.6 Million Seedlings Planted by Midday in Ethiopia’s One-Day Green Legacy Campaign

Addis Ababa, August 3, 2026 (FMC) — More than 578.6 million seedlings have been planted by midday under Ethiopia’s nationwide one-day Green Legacy campaign, Government Communication Service Minister Enatalem Meles announced.

Providing a midday update on the ongoing nationwide tree-planting drive, the minister said 18.6 million Ethiopians had taken part in the campaign across the country.

She said the seedlings planted so far cover more than 209,700 hectares of land.

According to Enatalem, the achievement represents 72 percent of the day’s target of planting 800 million seedlings, with planting activities continuing nationwide as Ethiopians work toward reaching the historic one-day goal.
