President commends role of women in promoting peace and security

Addis Ababa, June 26, 2022 (FBC) – President Sahle-Work Zewde delivered a speech at the launch of the Ethiopian Women Peacebuilders organized by Network of Ethiopian Woman Association(NEWA) on Tursday.

In her speech, she accentuated the consequence of the lack of peace and its values in the society. The President stated that women’s active participation is crucial to bring sustainable peace and security.

Saying that “peace is not the absence of war”, the President highlighted the role of women’s organizations in ensuring lasting peace in the country.
